Our Story
How Big Brothers Was Born
I’m Rolando
the younger brother in this story. My big brother Andrés and I built this together—but it all started with something simple.
A bike ride.
Andrés—who’s always been the curious one
Was riding through the neighborhood when he passed by a small corner shop. Something about it made him stop. He parked his bike, walked in, and asked the girl behind the counter a simple question: “Is this place for sale?”
“Yes,” she said. “We’re selling”
He called me right away!
I went to check it out, saw the potential, and made an offer. They accepted. And just like that, we were in.
We put in another couple bucks, rolled up our sleeves, and gave the place new life. We didn’t have a big plan—just a big dream, a lot of hustle, and a shared vision between two brothers.
The name? That was Andrés’ idea —Big Brothers.
He’s older than me, so it felt right. It wasn’t just a name, it was a symbol of family, trust, and working side by side. My dream was to make the best sub in all of Hartford — not just any sandwich, but one people would crave, remember, and come back for.

Later, my wife and I took over Big Brothers. We run it together — and we make a great team.
The first logo?
It was a chubby little kid eating a sandwich. That was my son, Rodrigo. He’s been part of this business since he was 12 years old, helping out behind the counter, always eager to learn. That cartoon version of him became our first brand icon. That was back in 2009. A lot has changed since then, but one thing hasn’t: we’re still here, still serving, still building something we’re proud of—together.
That’s the story of Big Brothers.
customer feedback
We have lots of happy customers
That Chimi was fire! Juicy, loaded, and that repollo with the sauce? Pure Dominican street vibes. I’d get it again in a heartbeat.

Pedimos una bandeja y eso fue una bomba de sabor. El chicharrón estaba en su punto, y la yuca ni se diga. ¡Pa repetir!

Mariana Carlo
Wow, that Tripleta hits hard. Crispy bread, all that meat, and flavor for days. Big Brothers really knows what’s up.

Diana Duque
Their Morir Soñando was so good. Really cold, creamy, and sweet just like my abuela used to make it. Straight comfort in a cup.

Niko Miusi
Ese mangú con los 3 golpes me puso a soñar. El salami tostadito, el queso crujiente… eso fue un desayuno de verdad
